Profoundly deaf people do not have the same concept of music as hearing people.
By performing a variety of popular songs in sign language, we hope deaf people will be able to
enjoy the music, and understand the beauty and emotions of the lyrics.

Deafness is invisible, it can easily be overlooked, or misunderstood. We hope to break through
the communication barrier deaf people face, by promoting awareness of their needs.

The Westley Hotel in Birmingham provided the venue for three shows during 1996 and 1997.
The group has performed in venues as diverse as Birmingham International Airport and St Philip's
Cathedral in Birmingham city centre. We were invited to perform at the launch of the CD ROM
Sign Language Dictionary in Harrods store in London and a little of our performance was seen
on the BBC television programme 'See Hear'. Music in Motion performed the title song to the
cast of the West End musical `Fame' at the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre during 1996.

Donations:
Birmingham Institute for the Deaf (BID) Youth Club received a donation which paid for a coach to
transport members of the club to EuroDisney.
The purchase of specialist equipment and training in its use has been partly funded by the
group's donation to the Deaf Unit at University Hospital Selly Oak, Birmingham.
Our very first donation was to FYD
Our second donation to FYD was made during their 1996 Roadshow tour
Friends for Young Deaf People (FYD) have received two sizeable donations from Music In
Motion to help with their work. Sponsorship of the Midlands sports day enabled both deaf
and hearing children to participate together. This promoted greater integration and co-operation
between deaf and hearing children and young adults.
